This virtual machine appears to be in use

Using VMware Workstation you might meet the following error when starting your virtual machines again (i.e. after host computer restart or so) "This virtual machine appears to be in use" with the following dialog:

This might happen due to incorrect computer restart or queue on your hard drive and so-on. Once you meet the problem do the following:

  • Go to the folder where you keep .vmdk, .vmk and others.
  • Make sure you don't have any .lock or .lck files / folder. If yes, delete them
  • Run your VM from VMware Workstation as usual.

Hope it helps, if not - let me know!
